Emiko Minakuchi was born in Yokohama (Japan)
where she began learning piano at the age of four. She studied music and piano at the Musashino University in Tokyo. Emiko Minakuchi discovered jazz and improvisation quite by chance through the pianist Junko Onishi. A concert of Michel Petrucciani on the Tokyo Blue Note decided, although not knowing a word of french to emigrate to Paris where she continued her studies conducted underthe Olivier Hutman (piano) and Jean Gobinet (arrangement, writing) and then with pianist and composer Antoine Hervé. His career led to contribute to numerous jazz, After a student, she teaches piano at the jazz school ARPEJ since 2003. Emiko in October 2003 his trio of brilliant young musicians, Hugo Cechosz (bass and electric bass) and Francesco Pastacaldi (drums). This trio plays original compositions, both airy and full of energy, imprinted with the Japanese roots of Emiko Minakuchi. The first album "KOKOLO" was released in September 2005. A video of the concert for the event is broadcast on the music channel MEZZO. Trio of concerts in various festivals in France (Jazz Oloron, Rhino Jazz Festival, Jazz under the apple trees in Coutances ,...), at the Japanese embassy in Paris at the Maison de la Culture du Japon à Paris, also Israel (Zappa Club in Tel Aviv). His second album "MEI", produced by Musica Guild, Cechosz with Hugo (bass) and Elijah Duris (drums) released in 2009.

Emiko Minakuchi est une pianiste de jazz d'origine japonaise qui vit à Paris. Elle se produit ici avec Francesco Pastacaldi, batteur italien vivant également à Paris et Hugo Cechosz contrebassiste français également parisien. Ce trio constitue une formation séduisante et représente une vision délicate et féminine du jazz en 2005. Un souffle très mélodique s’insinue dans les compositions originales de cette jeune interprète, qui possède la fougue et l’entrain (Pour toi, Jeux…) des plus grands interprètes du piano jazz. Sur les tempi plus langoureux, elle impose une belle musicalité et un jeu tout en legato très prenant (Le ciel, Acacia…). Une des révélations parisiennes de 2005.
